Preparing Visually Impaired Students to Assess and Cross Streets with No Traffic Control

This workshop will provide you with the teaching / assessment tools, "how-to" information, research and principles you need to teach students who are blind or visually impaired to assess and cross streets that have no stop sign or traffic signal. Among other things, the workshop will cover teaching students the following:

ALERT

situations of uncertainty of gap judgment

ANALYZE

ALTERNATIVES

ASCERTAIN

crossable gaps in traffic

maximize the use of their hearing / vision and know when to use which;
efficiently use vision / glancing to determine crossable gaps in traffic.
